Things Are Bad, But All Is Not Lost

This is going to be somewhat of a departure from what you normally read here, but I think it is necessary that I make this point. If you have been following me for any length of time, whether here on any of my social media, you know that I dealt with some very serious health concerns for most of last year. For those of you not familiar, here's a quick recap.

In central Texas, many people deal with cedar fever anywhere from December to March. I never had allergies until I moved here, but cedar fever is an annual occurrence for me now. In late February of 2022, I was dealing with what I thought was my annual cedar fever episode. It eventually got to the point where I had to be hospitalized. In the emergency room, I tested positive for the Wu-Flu, which had developed into pneumonia. It did such damage to my lungs that I had to be on oxygen. As many of you know, Wuhan-19 has been known to exacerbate and/or reveal previously unknown underlying conditions. Without going into too much detail, that is what happened to me. My health deteriorated rapidly. Eventually, I came to grips with the idea that I might not survive. I had always understood in the abstract that none of us are making it out of here alive in these bodies but had never had to face up to it under such grim circumstances.

It was at that point that I began to pray in earnest. Of course, I prayed for healing so that I could continue living. But my prayer also was that if it wasn't in God's plan to heal me, my wife and my family and friends would not suffer terribly at the loss of their husband, son, brother, and friend. I prayed that God would comfort them in that circumstance. I gave it up to God and believed that either way, He would work it out. As evidenced by you reading these words, He worked it out. My recovery began almost immediately. I started to regain my strength, was able to eat, and didn't have to rely on oxygen as much. The nurses and therapists all marveled at how quickly I was recovering. The word remarkable was used several times. One of my doctors said at one point that I might not make it and, and if I did, I may need oxygen for the rest of my life. They also said that chances were that I would never get more than 75% of my lung capacity back. I just saw that doctor a few days ago and I am operating at 98% lung capacity. The report stated that there was no scarring on my lungs and no evidence of the condition that landed me in their care. I have to see another specialist at the end of the month and I am believing God for a similar report from them.

I am telling you all of this because, with my recovery, I pledged my life to serve my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is my testimony that I would not have made this recovery without His divine intervention. The indisputable fact is that our country is very ill right now. My recovery and healing are illustrative of what our country desperately needs. We are not going to recover with the election of the right conservative. The right conservative can help, but that is not the answer. The answer is what happened at Asbury College, other schools in Kentucky, Samford University in Alabama, Texas A&M, Baylor University, Louisiana State, The University of Valley Forge in Pennsylvania, and others. The answer is returning to the Judeo-Christian ethos upon which this country was founded.

This country became the greatest country in the history of the world because the founders were Christians and drafted the founding documents in such a way that made that clear. Christians have since allowed the secular progressives to overrun every facet of our society. Andrew Breitbart famously said that politics is downstream from culture, and I think we are seeing overwhelming evidence of that right now. In 1962, the supreme court decided that prayer in schools amounted to the establishment of religion, and therefore was unconstitutional. In 1963, the supreme court decided that bible readings in schools were also unconstitutional. Then in 1965, The Great Society was unleashed on the country, effectively elevating the state to replace the God they took out of schools. This resulted in a sharp rise in out-of-wedlock births across the race spectrum, but especially in the black community. Then in 1973, Roe v. Wade was decided and mothers started killing their children at an alarming rate. Since 1973 when Roe was decided, an estimated 65 million babies have been murdered. In the span of eleven years, we went from banning prayer in schools to the state sanctioning genocide of preborn babies. We went from a culture that worshipped God, and valued family and community, to a multi-theistic one that worships the state as its benefactor and the self as the ultimate authority. We've seen that dynamic metastasize in the decades since. It is to the point where now, not only does reality have no meaning to the people caught up in the religion of state or self, but both camps are openly hostile to anyone who questions their gods. Especially Christians. As Breitbart said, politics is downstream from culture, but it is the same stream nonetheless.

I've said many times over the years that we are in an ideological war with leftists. Conservatives are losing. Government officials are advocating for the mutilation of children, some of whom claim that it's immoral to not allow children to be mutilated or to refuse to poison them with cross-sex hormones. Doctors and pharmaceutical companies are building a multi-billion dollar business by transing and sterilizing children. They are disarming us while Soros-funded DAs refuse to prosecute violent criminals, thus allowing them to roam the streets. When someone dares to step up and defend people against one of these criminals, the hero ends up facing charges. Leftists praise this as some kind of victory for minorities. They are floating the idea of cash payments to black folks who were never slaves, paid for by people who never owned slaves because, reasons. Any normal person sees this and knows that it is utter madness.

There are numerous other examples of how we're losing the ideological, or culture war, but why are we losing? Our message is clearly better and grounded in reality. We're losing for a number of reasons. The least important of which is that we keep voting people into office who have abandoned fighting the culture war in favor of tax cuts and investigations that ultimately go nowhere. Some of those investigations could help in the culture war if they took them further than a press conference podium, but Republicans on the whole never wield the power we've given them with any effectiveness. 

The most glaring reason we're losing is that we have abandoned God. The decadence, depravity, and demonic influence we're seeing unfold at such a breakneck pace in this country is a direct consequence of our rejection of Christian values. So-called Christians, especially in the black community, keep voting for people who promise the world and deliver crap sandwiches. Sandwiches that get gobbled up while they keep asking for more. A truly mystifying phenomenon. But we saw a few months ago that all is not lost. If we can harness what happened at Asbury College and LSU and Texas A&M and expand that across the country, we can turn this around. We can have a nationwide revival. Then we will elect the right candidates. Then we will get back to the prosperity and world prominence that we once had. Those of us who believe must pray for that to happen, and put in whatever work we can to make sure that it does happen. It was the divine intervention of God that healed me when the outlook was bleak. As dire as the outlook is at the moment, I believe that God will heal this nation as well.
